Tom is an advisor to Residual with decades of experience in biochar systems, biomass conversion, and industrial-scale deployment. He is Executive Director of the US Biochar Initiative and an Emeritus Board Member and former Chair of the International Biochar Initiative. Tom has designed and evaluated systems for biomass processing, including densification, carbonization, gasification, and energy generation, with a focus on converting agricultural and forestry residues into biochar, energy, and soil amendments. He is also a coordinator of the Pacific Northwest Biochar Working Group.
